From Nigeria comes Random Photo Journal, a slightly deceivingly titled ‘study of the social ecology of neighbourhoods, daily lives and living conditions’ in countries across West Africa—Senegal, Uganda, Madagascar, Cameroon and more. With a strong focus on people and community, the largely full bleed glossy imagery is accompanied by a mix of fiction, interviews with African photographers and filmmakers, and even idiosyncratic insights into photography; ‘making a good street photograph is like being an expert pickpocket’ is one such example.
This third issue is themed Ekó-systems, in reference to the former name of Lagos, and is dedicated to exploring the hustle and bustle of a city in which, as editor Arinzechukwu Patrick writes, ‘what you see is what you get, and the more you look the less you see.’
