I’ll be speaking at Facing Pages next month in Arnhem. Previously known as OK Festival (not the greatest title!), it’s organised by the people behind OK Periodical; their first event two years ago was interrupted by the ash cloud airspace closure. I couldn’t get to that one but am looking forward to being involved this time alongside an inpressive line-up including Will from It’s Nice That, Matt and Paul from Little White Lies, Simon Esterson, Laura Meseguer and Michael Bojkowski.
Facing Pages takes place 20, 21 & 22 April.
Oh sweet irony – it’s a printed magazine about web development and design. The cleverly titled Offscreen unashamedly meets the irony head on, editor Kai Brach explaining in his introduction to the issue that the magazine is the result of his desire to have a more ‘palpable interation with content’. He describes his fellow digital specialists as having lost touch with the human side of digital. What better way to get back in touch with that than print?
The new issue of It’s Nice That launches this week, taking ‘Space’ as its theme. Inside you’ll find John Pawson, Paula Scher and Deyan Sudjic among others as well as plenty of work by younger designers including German editorial designer Mirko Borsche. Order quickly to receive a free A1 photographic print by Cyril Porchet and small booklet about Olympic measurements by George Hardie (cover, above, shot by
Thomas Brown Erwin Frotin).
Here’s a brief video from the recent Printout design night, held at the Book Club on March 1. Thanks to Tom Eagar for recording and editing it.
The evening featured Rob from Anorak and Cagoule, Chris from Wrap and Paul from Little White Lies, with music from John L Walters (that’s him above) from Eye.
You can see more of Tom’s work on his Vimeo. The next Printout night will be confirmed soon.
