Weekly acting like a weekly

Publishing weekly means you can respond quickly. Time Out seems to have forgotten this recently, but this New York cover does the job as it deals with the news of New York governer Eliots Spitzer’s resignation following his involvement in a prostitution ring. Right story, right timing, right treatment – a magazine in tune with its home city and audience (via Mr Magazine).

I don’t think you would be very impressed by this mag if you actually saw it every week. It’s bathroom and Doctors office fodder only.

You think so? I think it’s a great mag, I’m a subscriber and I don’t even live in NYC. It’s won a shitload of awards lately too, for editorial and design.

They pay on time. So, most of the people who give the awards work there, do freelance work for them, or has a pal who works there. I fill 2 of these slots myself… I’m still unimpressed. Its junk food.

Great mag, beautiful design. I disagree with the bathroom and doctors office quote. Their sections and pace have a lot more thought and intelligence than a lot of our monthlies.
