At least it’s not being printed
Manchester United/England footballer Rio Ferdinand has announced his own digital magazine, Rio.
Is there a more unlikely candidate around which to build a lifestyle brand?

“The magazine claims it will represent a snapshot of the world that Rio inhabits and will be a reflection of his interests.”
God, the jokes just write themselves, don’t they?
Somehow I can’t imagine Ron Harris or Norman Hunter doing such a thing. Though “Chopper” magazine does have a nice ring to it.

So funny. When I read about this first I thought it was a joke. Give it a season and I’m sure most of the Premiership will be publishing their own digital mags…

I just read his ‘edited’ issue of the Observer Sport Monthly, and while it’s not stellar stuff, the interviews he conducts actually give a representation of a pretty intelligent guy. And as far as I could see, no promo for his own magazine. Curious to see what he does with ‘Rio’.
