New Pop

Bauer Media are going ahead with the re-launch of Pop, post–Katie Grand, later this year, and have announced the creative team to lead it.

In what the publishers clearly believe is a fabulous coup, the new editor will be Dasha Zhukova, described as founder of Moscow’s The Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture, but better known in the UK as girlfriend of Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich.

The new editor will be able to call on an impressive team that has been built around her, including Pop founder Ashley Heath, fashionista Daphne Guinness, artist Sam Taylor-Wood, art director Julia Restoin Roitfeld (daughter of Vogue Paris editor Carine), design critic Alice Rawsthorn, graphic design guru Peter Saville and Rebecca Wilson, head of development at the Saatchi Gallery.

Some of these people are very good at what they do. Is it possible they might make something exciting?

Their first issue arrives in September, thus going head-to-head with the second issue of Grand’s Love (thanks Marissa).

Wow. What an interesting twist.
It surely is a provocative list of names. – the question will have to be… can it all work ‘together’?… It’s a long wait to find out..

But, once again – working within this industry, it is kind of reassuring to see how people are fighting on…
