Interview update

M/M Paris have now taken over the design and art direction of Interview, with the first sign of change being the revised logo, above (Fabien Baron’s short-lived version below).

I will miss Fabien.

The image you are showing as Fabien’s short lived logo version is incorrect.

You’re absolutely correct, Suarkttam. That second image is the pre-Baron logo. Here’s the real Baron logo:

this is fabien’s second 6-or-so issue run at interview … it’s a shame. both times he left it far better than he found it.

Comment on April 21, 2009 by Mr. McGinnis says:

You are nuts Patrick, Interview was at it’s greatest height before Fabien in the 80′s, although he definitely created some great, very 90′s work.

I preferred Tibor Kalman’s design of Interview, I like Baron’s work but he does draw from the same well a lot.

Comment on April 22, 2009 by Mr. Hart says:

I just got the second M/M Paris Interview with Emma Watson on the cover. I am still hoping they do a bit more of a redesign than just the “Baron-lite” they are doing now.
Baron’s idea of Interview was very pretty but not progressive, which is what I’d like to see in a magazine like Interview.

Am I the only one who reads INTERWIEN in the new logo?

Comment on April 25, 2009 by action man says:

No Jan, your not. I actually read: INTERWIEW. The legibility is a bit poor… but hey, MM are super heros they can’t do any wrong and you can’t say anything bad about their work…….

Comment on April 26, 2009 by Peter says:

Maybe i´m wrong, but the Logo MM have placed on the title looks like it could be the vintage one from the old Warhol days – a route which i would find rather wise after tweaking the signature without explainable improvement.

Comment on April 29, 2009 by Mr. McGinnis says:

To really capture the greatness of the magazine… there should be no art director or design guru at ALL. When it was truly great in the early 80′s, it was messy, funky and haphazard yet still larger than life. All This elegance doesn’t fit at all…

Comment on April 29, 2009 by Doktor says:

I thought the first issue of the redesign was outstanding. As someone who looks at magaziens for 20 years I actually dont buy so much anymore but this one was a no-brainer. Now the latest issue m which OI saw the other day – sorry just a yawn.

Comment on April 30, 2009 by Mark says:

Mr McGinnis – I totally agree. ‘undesign’ when it wasn’t a design solution agonised over by an editorial committee
