Back, but…

The good news? Just back from an enjoyable week in Cape Town, where I ran a series of workshops with the creative teams at New Media, got to meet Peet Pienaar and his team at The President and Ravi from Design Indaba, and generally had an all-round fun time. Thank you to everyone at New Media for making me feel so welcome.
And the bad news? Having lugged my Canon SLR all the way there, taken it with me everywhere, done the tourist bit over the weekend (photographing penguins at Boulders, above), I managed to lose it at Heathrow Airport this morning. Don’t ask me how, but it had disappeared by the time I got through passport control. Which may seem irrelevant to magCulture, but this is the camera I use to photograph the magazines I post here.
So until I sort out the insurance things will be pretty slow here. It might still turn up – according to Heathrow lost property, everything from cameras to laptops get handed in daily. It’s enough to restore your faith in humankind. If…

…you might have to start charging us for content to raise funds.

That’s rotten. Most of my worst photography disasters happen in airports, for some reason. Fingers crossed.
