Relax magazine

Apparently Japanese title Relax is closing. Perhaps not immediately shocking news to those outside Japan, but imagine if The Face had closed while it still mattered. The discussion about it’s end gives an insight into the changing world of Japanese pop culture and how it is reflected in magazines. Start at Marxy’s neomarxisme site

Neomarxisme has said now that they preformed a premiture burial (sorry, I’ve just watched ‘The Grudge’) and that Relax is back. It would have been sad to loose it and I hope the appeal it had a few years ago returns soon. Suprisingly the Japanese version of Dazed and Confused seems to be finding it’s own voice, designing their own covers (instead of a retread of the British version) and some visually arresting page designs that (quite rightly) put the current British Dazed to shame. Worth seeking out.
