My Favourite Magazine

My Favo(u)rite Magazine – an update

It’s a few months since Andrew Losowsky and I launched My Favo(u)rite Magazine on behalf of Bob Newman and his family. Bob’s recovery continues well, but he still has some way to go before being fully fit. You can read his full story on his website, but here’s a quick update on the magazine project.

One sign of Bob’s recovery is the occasional tweeting and posting online of a series of images of people with their copies of My Favo(u)rite Magazine – that’s the Huffington Post app team above with their copies. There are more pictures here, and here and you can keep an eye on additions on Bob’s facebook page. Join in –  post your picture.

Places My Favo(u)rite Magazine had been spotted so far include: Toronto, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, London, Rio, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Hamburg, Columbus Ohio Hoboken New Jersey and Porto Alegre Brazil.

It’s not too late to get a copy wherever you might be too – we still have My Favo(u)rite Magazine in our online shop, and as Keisha Dean from SPD (above) demonstrates, there’s also a PDF edition available for download. Use this button:

Note this button is for the PDF only.

Oh – and just in case you don’t already know about My Favo(u)rite Magazine, it’s the result of Andrew Losowsky and me inviting magazine makers  across the world to submit their one favourite magazine for publication. The result is a 64-page set of images and texts from 88 contributors that not only gathers together a unique set of magazines old and new, but also expresses the passion for magazines shared by some of the world’s best art directors and editors. Here are some sample spreads:

All profits from My Favo(u)rite Magazine will go directly to Bob Newman. You can also make direct donations to via the Friends of Bob Newman site.

Wondering if anyone else has reported problems receiving their shipment? It’s been about two months and my copy’s not yet received in Chicago. Maybe our notoriously bad postal service needed its magazine fix, and just kept it, but by chance you guys have any tracking on your end?

We’ve had a few copies gone missing, part of the risk in posting transatlantic I guess, but vast majority have arrived OK. Anyone with similar problem should email shop (at) magculture dot com with details of their order. thanks.
