Monocle

More on Tyler Brulé's new magazine Monocle in today's MediaGuardian. Doesn't mention who's designing the project but you can bet it'll be beautiful. And the concept sounds strong – a kind of creative Economist. But exactly how Brulé will avoid it becoming another expensive toy to be sold on a la Wallpaper* remains to be seen. The writer reports the story straight-faced, quoting Brulé on his favourite theme of the 'time-pressed, well-travelled, well-heeled' audience he expects to be his reader, before ending with a cutting comment about Slovenian wine-sipping designer flip-flop buyers.
