Customer magazines come in many guises, the end result being defined by what the client wants the project to achieve. This magazine, created for Selfridges, balance two roles. It features product but needs to do so in a context that reflects the clients brand image, an image of cool built around modern art, architecture and design. The front cover sums up this double-function. Designed in vivid magenta to attract immediate attention, the clients' name and the title of the magazine take a secondary role behind the screaming reversed out headline. 'SHOP UNTIL YOU DROP' can be read in two ways. To the keen shopper it reinforces their desire for retail therapy. But others can read it as an ironic critique of today's consumerist society.
