Carlos is published for passengers traveling in Virgin Atlantic Airways' Upper Class cabin. The small-format title was devised as an alternative to the wannabe consumer magazine that is the typical in-flight magazine. In today's world of full-colour daily newspapers colour is no longer a luxury but the norm, and Carlos's lo-if look and feel Ð it is printed using only dark blue on a cream coloured text paper with a brown card cover featuring gold foil blocking Ð is a perfect expression of the style and luxury of Upper Class travel. This look and feel is amplified by the complete absence of photography. Instead all images are illustrations, commissioned from artists both established and new, including many who do not usually do editorial work. The range of styles used provides pace and variety.
