‘The Modern Magazine’ is Jeremy Leslie’s third book about editorial design for Laurence King Publishers, published in 2013.

Conceived as an overview of contemporary editorial design and trends, the book shares the scope of the magCulture Journal, covering the best of mainstream and independent editorial design and taking in digital developments. Each of four chapters opens with an essay before showcasing captioned examples of magazines. Where possible, we photographed the magazines rather than used supplied PDFs, to focus on their physical nature.

The heavy board cover was finished in brown paper and the title screenprinted to again emphasise the physical, echoing the way magazines do so. laurenceking.com
