Vogue magazine has a special, but very different, place in the magazine market of each territory it is published in. The US edition is at the very heart of the mainstream, while European editions generally find themselves at the more sophisticated but smaller end of the market. At any one time one of these editions will lead the way design-wise and recently it is the Paris edition that has been at the forefront of magazine design. The hand-drawn fonts featured in the examples shown were specially created for the magazine. They soften and bring character to an otherwise quite austere layout.
