Third Place Zine reimagines the idea of the ‘third place’—the spaces that are neither work nor home—and explores how these pockets of the built environment offer refuge, leisure, and connection to the communities they serve.
This debut issue, centred around ‘Parkscapes’, turns its attention to one of the most universal third places: the park. It asks important questions—Who are parks really for? Does downtime in the park belong only to those with time and privilege? How do these green spaces adapt to our evolving urban fabric? Inside, you’ll find stories from New York’s hidden urban farms, an interview with a Central Park groundskeeper, and reflective essays about the park benches where office workers lunch and on the picnic blankets that bid adieu to friends departing the city.
