Direction of Travel is devoted to airline maps and the culture of flying, and is published by digital infographics designer Christian Nolle. 

The broadsheet mag tell the illustrated story of the route maps that are often the only lasting physical manifestation of airline networks at a specific moment in time. This fifth issue covers maps created by Russian airline Aeroflot and US flagship Pan Am, prroviding a new angle on the history of the cold war.

As well as the maps, the issue offers a brief history of circumnavigation—flying right round the world—and takes a look at Gander Airport, Newfoundland’s ‘Crossroads of the World’.
