Kinfolk has become so influential in the publishing world and beyond that it's hard to imagine just how radical its minimal, proto-mindfulness, clean lines and clean living aesthetic was when it first appeared on shelves back in 2011.

For Fall 2023, the magazine rounds off our Barbie-pink summer with its own rose-hued cover. This is the Scandinavia Special, which trades the oft cited concepts of hygge, sisu or fika for a look at figures working with the ‘darker side of Europe's northernmost reaches‘—the likes of pop star Tove Lo, filmmaker Ruben Östlund, artist Karin Mamma Anderson and more. Plus, an ode to plainness, a look at the pizza effect, the art of listening and a particularly interesting essay on the decline of the mainstream.
