Jack Grealish’s calves, ‘freaky uncle’ Louis van Gaal, the undeniable gayness of women’s football, and Egyptian ultras are all brought together in this, the ‘Sex & Love’ issue of our favourite football mag.
A natural theme for a title so driven by the intensity of emotions felt for the game, you’ll find a sultry, summertime offering of kisses, a love letter to the French national team of the 80s, the highs and lows of Merthyr Town, 35 fictional first dates, and Tim Vickery’s tour of Rio de Janeiro.
On the Journal
At work with editor Dan Sandison: ‘We’d had quite a few offers from weird and wonderful organisations to buy us out over the years, and we’d pretty consistently turned them down. This felt different though, they were publishers and football people. We got on. Fast forward six months and we are working on a magazine for the first time in about three years… It’s been a long time in the making, and we are all made up to be back.’
