The quarterly magazine of New York-based non-profit photography foundation of the same name, Aperture is the flagship representation of their commitment to contemporary photography. 

Issue 259 explores stories of black style, coinciding with The Met’s show, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Guest editor Tanisha C. Ford curates a range of portfolios, essays and interviews exploring the contemporary portrayal of what she terms, ‘Soul Style,’ a worldwide movement fusing fashion and self-expression with Black freedom in the sixties and seventies. 

‘I wanted to bring together artist who see style as a way to ask questions about embodiment, pleasure, and political consciousness,’ Ford writes.
