Book Look #1, The Dress

210 x 297mm, 32 pages, folds out to make an apron/dress
Amsterdam, Netherlands (multiple languages)
Created by: Anouk Beckers

Each issue of this unique publishing project is designed to fold out to make an item of clothing. This first issue shares a text by artist and researcher María Naidich about the Tseltalero dress, apron-like garment created and worn by women from both Tseltal and Tojolabal communities in the Lacandon jungle, in southeastern Mexico. The Tseltalero dress represents an expression of women’s resistance to centuries of control over their clothing since the colonial times.
