New York Living Rooms

By Dominique Nabakov
246 x 290mm, hardback
Originally published in 1998, republished by Apartamento, 2021

First commissioned as a photo essay for The New Yorker in 1995, ‘New York Living Rooms’ was the first instalment in Dominique Nabokov’s series of three interior photography works (the others being Berlin and Paris).

It’s reissued today by Apartamento magazine’s publishing arm.

Nabokov’s polaroids show the interior living spaces of New York’s most famous/infamous cultural figures of the era, including Susan Sontag, Norman Mailer, Louise Bourgeois, Francesco Clemente, Allen Ginsberg, and Joan Didion.

Plus an introduction from poet James Fenton.
