'Bookish Magazine'
This, friends, is the final issue of our most favourite 'Bookish Magazine'. As editor-in-chief Seb Emina writes in his final editor's letter for The Happy Reader:
'Books don't have hiatuses, they have endings. But magazines do. Or do they? As with any book, a given issue of a magazine is always there, even if they stopped printing new ones. It can be reread and shared and discovered by new people. It can be collected, sought out by those who missed it the first time around. It can gain new resonances, as time goes on.' We couldn't agree more.
A silver lining is that this last issue, odd at #19, has a particularly gorgeous front cover, featuring the ethereal Tilda Swinton framed by butterflies and in conversation with novelist Deborah Levy. And the final book? It's a little ditty called The Odyssey: 'the truest fantasy ever written'. Perhaps you know it?
