We first worked with progressive publishing website Aeon in the build-up to their 2012 launch, developing a visual identity that mixed several fonts to express the multiple subjects and voices the site presents. This initial work developed into the design of the website, on which we worked closely with the editorial and coding teams to produce a design to best navigate and present the daily long-form essays Aeon publishes.

We wanted the structure and taxonomy to be as transparent as possible, so the reader could get to the essays quickly and easily. The site has been through multiple iterations, and has now settled on a design where the seven colour-coded categories act as both navigation and explanation.

We continue to work with the Aeon team, adding an associated video site, improving the essay designs, and helping develop the currently beta-stage Aeon Ideas project.
