Varoom

monocle issue six cover

The latest issue of illustration magazine Varoom has been out a few weeks now. It includes an overview by Steven Heller of young American illustrators including some great work by Tamara Shopsin.

The highlight for me, though, is an update on the work of Peter Kennard. Along with David King, Kennard provided the visual identity for the UKs late seventies socialist campaigns – CND, Rock Against Racism, Anti-Nazi League etc. Now an inspiration for today’s generation of street/graffiti artists, Kennard has moved from hand made collage to Photoshop with ease as this example from the magazine shows.
