The latest edition of Milanese staple Alla Carta takes inspiration from Ratataplan, a 1979 film in which the protagonist—director Maurizio Nichetti himself—remains silent and mime-like throughout. The team manage to nab Nichetti for an interview this issue, along with plenty of typically vibrant photography and imagery inspired by elements of the film—‘a succession of masks, drinks, stage clothes, tears and laughter, in the hope that we too might inhabit that happy nook between naive poetry and comedy.’
