Online shop

All the magazines in our London Shop are also available for online orders for collection, London same-day delivery, UK shipping, and international shipping. We pack and post all orders ourselves at the Shop, aiming to dispatch those placed before 2pm local time on the same day, Monday through Friday. Orders placed after 2pm will ship the following day (on Friday, later orders will ship on Monday).

We use two shipping services: Royal Mail and DHL. You’ll be offered several options at checkout. Same-day London deliveries use Gophr.

For more expensive items and international orders, we strongly recommend selecting a tracked service: either Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed or DHL.

 

International orders

Royal Mail services have declined in recent months; their standard international service now takes a minimum of ten days, and often longer. We strongly recommend using the Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed service instead, or if the order is particularly large/valuable go for DHL, which is fast, efficient and fully tracked.

Our online shop now accepts payments using your local currency.

 

EU orders

We follow all advice on overcoming post-Brexit delivery problems, and generally there is no problem shipping to the EU today. As part of this, we use customs forms and add VAT tax to all orders from the 27 EU countries. The tax is added automatically at checkout, and set at the local rate for the delivery address (all non-EU destinations are tax-free.)

We strongly recommend choosing Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed or DHL at the shipping stage, as this will give you/us the ability to follow your magazine throughout its journey (International Standard mail does not allow you to track items). To be extra secure, select DHL over Royal Mail. DHL is more reliable and faster.

Royal Mail deliveries to Germany, Greece and Italy have been disrupted for some time, so we are only offering Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed service to these countries. This costs more but is more reliable.

There is still the occasional EU shipment that gets extra customs rates applied at the delivery stage; this is incorrect, but beyond our control. If this happens please email us urgently and we’ll do our best to sort the situtaion. It is sometimes simpler for us to pay the additional fee than for the package to be returned.

We regret that we can’t currently accept orders from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Israel as our shipping partners cannot guarantee shipments will arrive safely. We hope we can reinstate these countries soon.

Click + Collect

You can also pay online and come and collect your magazines from the Shop—just select ‘Pick Up’ at Checkout. Once you receive email confirmation that your order is ready for collection, come to our Clerkenwell Shop 11am—6pm weekdays or 12—6pm Saturdays. Please bring your order number.

Packaging

Orders are carefully and securely packed in card envelopes or boxes, all of which are reusable/recyclable, and we use paper rather than plastic bubble wrap to protect items. We have also stopped using plastic tape to seal packages.

Larger orders may be split into two or more packages.

 


Payments

We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express card payments as well as Shop, PayPal and Apple Pay, and our shop is fully compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

 


Address details

We cannot be responsible for incorrect addressing—please make sure you use the correct name, address, email and phone details. If you realise you’ve made a mistake email or call us as soon as possible—we ship every day so you need to catch us quick.

Packed magazines are often larger than home letterboxes, so someone will need to be present to receive the shipment. 

 

Gift orders

If your order is a gift for another person, please say so in the Notes field when ordering, and we won’t include an invoice with the shipment. You can also include a personal message here and we’ll write that on a postcard—or you can buy one of our greetings cards and we’ll personalise that.

 


Order confirmation

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after placing your order. Please check it to make sure everything is correct. If you have any questions or concerns, email or give us a call right away.

We will respond to emails as soon as we can Monday to Friday during shop hours (currently 11am–6pm).

 


UK orders

Orders weighing less than 2kg are sent via Royal Mail by default, and there’s a range of service options. We strongly recommend paying more and selecting ‘Tracked & Signed’ at checkout—we cannot vouch for your package’s safe delivery otherwise. Most people use First Class post; not tracked, but speedy (note we’ve stopped offering Second Class post as it has become so unreliable, except for orders weighing 2.1—5kg where the low prices can be useful).

Orders over 2kg are automatically sent using DHL Express as it is cheaper than Royal Mail for that weight.

DHL is generally a next day service but please note they do not deliver at weekends. Orders placed between 2pm on Thursday and 2pm on Friday won’t arrive until Monday. Those placed after 2pm on Friday or over the weekend will be shipped on Monday and arrive Tuesday.

Spend over £100 for a UK order and get free shipping.

 

London same day delivery

For same day delivery in London, select the Gophr courier service at Checkout. This service is available weekdays 12-5pm only. Visit gophr.com to find out more about their service.

 


International orders

We now accept payment using your local currency.

Orders weighing less than 2kg are sent via Royal Mail First Class by default, but we strongly recommend paying the slightly higher rate and selecting ‘Tracked & Signed’ at checkout—we cannot vouch for your package’s safe delivery otherwise.

Apart from the US (see below), orders over 2kg are delivered using DHL Express.

Orders placed after 2pm on Fridays and over the weekend will ship on the following Monday.

Please note that certain countries, such as Australia and Brazil, allow for either tracked or signed, but not both. In such cases, we will always choose tracked for ‘Tracked & Signed’ deliveries unless you request otherwise.

For some European countries we’re able to offer the option of choosing DHL Economy Select — this is a road service and will take a few days longer than Express. Post-Brexit there are unpredictable  delays on this services.

 

US orders

All US orders weighing more than 0.76kg will be shipped using DHL as this is cheaper than current US mail rates and more secure. Smaller US orders will use Royal Mail Tracked and Signed.

 


Receipt

All shipments include a tax receipt for your order, unless you specify the order is a gift (state 'Gift’ in the notes field).

Except for orders from the EU, magazines and books sold from the UK are zero-rated for VAT.

 


Product descriptions

We take all reasonable care to ensure that the descriptions, prices and other details of products listed on the website are correct at the time of publishing.

  


Returns/lost orders

We check all orders before shipping, but if anything is damaged or missing from your order please let us know as soon as possible. 

It is surprisingly rare for shipments to get lost in the postal system. More usually they are delayed. We recommend paying for a tracked service to avoid delays/losses.
