Duck in London
142 x 125mm (CD with case, plus 20 page booklet)
London, UK
Created by: Manyi Chan
Following her petit saddle-stitched essay-zine, A Guide to Fry an Egg, Hong Kong-born artist Manyi Chan recently popped in to drop off her latest project, a 64-minute audio track recording the sounds of London... while mapping the outline of a giant duck across the city with her footsteps.
It's an impressive feat and curious sensory experiment, various areas of the city making up different parts of the duck—the wing is a ‘giant curly bracket through the heart of London’ from Euston to Marylebone, Chinatown and Soho make for the feet, while we here in Clerkenwell are nestled in the tail feathers.
You'd have to listen yourself for the full experience, but the CD is also accompanied by a small booklet capturing snippets of the sights and sounds encountered on Manyi's paths.
