A zine dedicated to the representations of women in African cinema, each issue takes a single movie and deconstructs it. The subject of this first issue is ‘La Noire de…’, a movie made in Senegal back in 1966.

Flamboyantly presented, with a metallic gold cover and bold typography throughout, a series of essays based on Afi Venessa’s MA thesis address aspects of the film and it’s context. An added layer of complexity is added by Afi’s use of a bespoke Large Language Model to repurpose her academic texts to be more succinct.
