Terra Firma is a publication dedicated to the collaboration of photography, design and more recently, poetry and other mediums. Offering an opportunity for emerging artists to explore their work through a predetermined theme, the magazine recently scaled up in physical size and pagination, making for a chunkier read with a glossy cover and tactile matt-paged interior.
This ninth edition promises to be ‘the gayest issue ever’, covering queer friendship, love, camp, cowboys, childbirth and more. Featuring interviews with DJ Charlie Villas and artists Honey Long and Prue Stent; photography by Lucy Deverall, Anna Tokareva and Indii Newman; a hand-scrawled account of a life drawing session by Taizo Matsuyama; and ex-magCulture manager Danielle Mustarde's ode to the dyke renaissance via a big night out at Hackney lesbian bar La Camionera.
On the Journal
At work with Sophie Willison: ‘I am always incredibly inspired to see how people respond to the theme of each issue and with this issue in particular—the Anxiety issue—it has been so moving and inspiring to see work created in response to that topic.’
