An extension of a non-profit gallery and cultural organisation of the same name in Amsterdam, Motormond centres Black queer artists in its ethos of ‘circulating pan diasporic culture’. Borrowing its theme, ’Errant Black Girlhoods’, from the name of a photography exhibition presented by the gallery last year, this first issue serves as a slick introduction to Motormond's work.
Visually led with a collage-like selection of photographs from the exhibition set against lush gradients, inside you'll also find two texts: an interview with curator and editor-in-chief Musoke Nalwoga, and reflections on the notion of Black errantry from artists Keren Lasme and Nella Ngingo, whose self-portrait makes for the front cover.
