Monocle #173

200 x 265 mm, 210 pages
Ten times a year
London, UK
Editor: Andrew Tuck
Creative director: Richard Spencer Powell

The figurehead project of the international design/business/culture media empire launched by Tyler Brûlé in 2007, the monthly print magazine holds all the other elements together.

The May 2024 issue features a couple of ‘Top 50s’ in the form of the latest edition of the Monocle Design Awards—a roundup that includes a plant library in Hong Kong, Bahrain's new pearl museum, a slick student-designed fire extinguisher and a collaboration between card game Uno and Italian furniture company Kartell—as well as 50 books recommended by Monocle's friends, collaborators and editors. Joan Didion, Cormac McCarthy, Kahlil Gibran, Toni Morrison and Elie Wiesel all make the cut.
