‘Race + culture’

Now publishing for almost 10 years, the petit and punchy Skin Deep is dedicated to making space for BIPOC creatives ‘to work towards justice through cultural production.  Petit and punchy, each issue brings together essays, art, profiles, flash fiction and games, centering culture and storytelling.

Following their previous issue—a somber affair themed ‘Is This The End?’—the team offer some well-earned respite from the heaviness with a new issue dedicated to play. Experience some joyful escapism with articles about Barbie, Dungeons & Dragons, and Grand Theft Auto, plus interactive games throughout like a cut-out cootie catcher and a tongue-in-cheek ‘Cracking the Representation Code’ scorecard.

On the Journal:
‘The cross-platform mag surrounding race and culture calls out authoritarian aspects of our lives and ‘appropriates’ them in this issue as a response to, and a distraction from the political circus. Their retort to the establishment is perfectly summed up on the back page in large letters above the barcode: ‘RESISTING FACISM – PRICELESS’.’ READ MORE
