Catalog is a new, experimental newsprint publication presenting a collection of moments, textures and observations in the form of photography. This test issue is built on impressions of New York City, a place that is inspirational to so many but also at high risk of clichéd findings. To its credit, Catalog is more the former than the latter, mixing the familiar—skyscrapers, the view from a bridge—with the more nuanced: trainers walking the concrete sidewalk, a newsstand display, a Star Wars promo portrait. 

More evocative than specific, it does a good job of reflecting the energy of New York.
