‘An ode to contemporary (analogue) photography’

The sophomore issue of slow photography publication Safelight Journal explores the theme Sun. 13 artists offer their own understanding of the theme, answering by way of their chosen subjects and style of analogue photography.

As well as visuals, which are the main dish here, there’s also intermittent editorial—short pieces exploring the issue’s theme, mostly poetry and notes which accompany the photography. Inside, the pages change from matt to glossy and back to matt.

It’s worth noting that the journal comes out of the Berlin-based shop of the same name: a candy-pink haven to analog photography created by Alessandro Iotti and Chris Morgan.

On the Journal:
November’s Magazine of the Month majors on its own photographic niche, reflecting the contemporary interest in rediscovering otherwise outmoded technology; all the images in the debut issue of Safelight Paper are analogue rather than digital, shot using film.’
