The Architectural Review #1515

230 x 280 mm, 110 pages
London, UK
Monthly
Editor: Manon Mollard
Art directorTom Carpenter

Founded in 1896, the AR has a proud tradition of challenge and criticism, scouring the globe for architecture that provokes and inspires, and relying on its immense archive and critically acclaimed writers to shape architectural discourse. Combine this with a rich history of contemporary editorial design and you have a magazine of interest beyond its natural architectural audience

The October 2024 issue is centred around the most consumed material on the planet after water: Concrete. Acknowledging the positive impact of concrete post-war for social housing and city rebuilds, included are stories on the works of Ítala Fulvia Villa and the reclaiming of concrete within African countries discussed by Armelle Choplin. Whilst doing so, this issue also questions concrete's ecological impact and how projects in Tanzania and France are challenging the overuse of this material.

A fascinating issue that is balanced in examining the very material that we interact and rely on daily.
