Lodown #128
204 x 300mm, 130 pages
Berlin, Germany and (Somewhere) Austria
Quarterly
Editors: Goetz Werner and Yasmin Martinelli
Founded in 1995, Berlin-based Lodown offers a healthy dose of anti-establishment arts, interviews and board-sports. Highly visual, often matte paper-paged and satisfying in the hands, this issue is themed Crush—a late summer arrival inspired by the Lodown team's infatuation with the sunny season, and a ‘more light, fleeting, flirty and giddy’ issue than what you'd typically expect.
Staple-bound with a glossy cover, its a collage of artist interviews and profiles, showcasing photographs of skaters in Johannesburg to paintings of American suburbia from the likes of Dre Dogue, Jay Wilkinson, Alexandre Bavard, Karabo Mooki and more. Plus an esoteric two-part series titled ‘Sketchbook Crushes’, the latter of which features stills of Ultra High Performance Concrete being crushed by a hydraulic press. Summer, am I right?
