‘Stories of Modern Sport’

A sports magazine that covers a little bit of everything: from sailing, surfing and snooker to rugby, racing (horse and motor) and rucksacks for rambling. With illustrations, interviews, essays and photography throughout, Pitch is perfect for the multi-sports lover.

This special ‘Collector’s Edition’ for Summer 2026 is dedicated (almost entirely) to the upcoming FIFA World Cup, due to be held in North and Central America between June and July this year. It’s a ‘celebratory issue’, featuring a 20-page look back at the 22 tournaments since its 1930 inauguration, conversations with the likes of former Scottish midfielder and 1978 World Cup captain Don Masson and Cape Verde centre-back Roberto Lopes (aka ‘Pico’), as well as an extract from James Bennett’s new book, ‘No Show: The World Cup Teams That Never Were’, exploring the misfortune of Eric Cantona and other football legends that failed to qualify.
