‘Unidentified experimental fuckaroundery’

The Ministry of Lost Imagination is the latest edition from Purgatory Sandwich founder and TBWA strategist Peter Kormanyos. Swapping Purgatory Sandwich’s signature paper sandwich bag packaging for a taller mini-baguette sleeve, this highly conceptual special edition pays tribute to the late renegade Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani, adopting the playful title ‘The Ministry of Lost Imagination: Bedtime stories for adults who overthink magic’.

Inside, you’ll find a typically outlandish collection of short stories: fingers with a life of their own, a dentist for the dead, a midnight Frankenstein bicycle-repair-shop race, a vintage shop waiting for new souls, and more—beautifully tied together with visuals from design maverick Paloma Pardo.

Plus, the usual suggestive stickers and the fun addition of a cardboard box filled with handmade raspberry-vanilla flavoured ‘Lick Away the Regime’ sweets, featuring the inked outline of Kim Jong Un—a ‘coup-d’état’ led by tastebuds.

On the Journal
At Work With Peter Kormanyos: ‘I’ve had a lot of creative ideas in my day-to-day work, but lots of them were sacrificed at the altar of conformity. So, I guess Purgatory is also the rescue platform for them where I don't have to compromise my thinking.’
