Inherent Vice is a new zine dedicated to queer culture within the heritage sector—bringing together conservators, archivists, collection carers, and librarians to build a like-minded professional community.

This sophomore edition aims to ‘question and destabilise’ preconceived notions about the role of queer culture within heritage, exploring simultaneously queer and activist identities, and examining the contrasting and enduring effects of oppression against queer minorities. The issue includes Stuart Feather—an original member of the Gay Liberation Front—on his time as an activist using socialism as a framework for queer resistance, a feature devoted to the queer archives available to explore at The Bishopsgate Institute, and a deep dive into the intersection between museum work and queer climate activism.

Plus, an advice page for preserving your own protest material, and a showcase of work from the Queer War Archive founded in Ukraine to platform queer identities.
