So Young #50

175 x 250 mm, 60 pages
Published since 2013
Editors: Sam Ford and Josh Whettingsteel
Cover photo: Theo Cottle

Inspired by the punk zines of previous generations, So Young is a tribute to all that remains positive in the world of guitar music: ‘going to gigs, buying records, looking at the sleeve artwork as you listen.’ Visuals are enhanced with illustrations of the featured bands.

This edition is a BIGGIE! It's the magazine's 50th issue and what better way to celebrate that milestone than having BIG-name, Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C. on the cover or, as editors Sam and Josh describe them: 'the most exciting band in the world right now.'

The team also give a shout-out to every contributor, band, and artist who has helped support their independent print magazine along the way. Also inside: Monobloc, Crack Cloud, Fcukers, Ebbb, TTSSFU, Blue Polar, triage, The Itch, Mên An Tol. Here's to another 50!

On the Journal:
It’s this one thing: So Young #37: ‘Recently one specifically guitar-led, indie music mag has been repeatedly catching my eye ...ear? It seems every issue has, on its cover, my and everyone around me’s, post-punk band du jour. In recent months, Parquet Courts, Yard Act, Dry Cleaning, Wet Leg, Black Country, New Road, Goat Girl and, most recently, Porridge Radio, have all adorned the bold, cut-and-paste illustrated covers of So Young while, simultaneously, the very same bands sit on my app-based ‘watch list’ for gig tickets...’
