Cover story: Anorak #36
The new issue of Anorak goes on preorder today, and we’re excited to exclusively share its brilliant new cover, which is quite a departure for the magazine. The beautifully surreal illustration by artist Amandine Urruty announces the issue’s theme Cats and Dogs, and is a deliberate step away from the magazine’s usual bright, blocky style.
‘I believe indie magazines are in a privileged space as they can make their own rules,’ explains Anorak founder Cathy Olmidillas, ‘I value and respect our readers hugely and always strive to give them more than a magazine. I hope it is a gateway into a world of creativity and imagination’
Urruty’s artwork certainly achieves that, referencing early twentieth century children’s books to tell more of a story than the magazine’s usual more poster-like covers.
