It’s nice, this
It’s Nice That is a new magazine that acts as an archive for the blog of the same name, presenting a more detailed background to some of the artists and work featured online.
The design, by Will Hudson and Alex Bec, the people behind the blog and design studio HudsonBec, is very clear and simple. The cover and inside pages are printed on a satisfyingly rough uncoated stock, the cover, above, blank but for a list of the people featured in the issue, giving it a journal feel.
The majority of the content consists of a carefully edited series of single-page entries containing an example of a work and a brief biography of up and coming artits and designers (including Jean Julien, above, who contributed artworks to the ‘We Make Magazine’ book). This run of single pages is occasionally broken by longer features looking at more established artists – Ian Wright and Graham Rawle for instance.

It’s a deceptively simple project. As the pair say on their website, ‘There’s still no substitute for holding a beautifully printed object in your hands,’ an opinion advanced by the look and feel of the actual magazine. The images here can’t do justice to the paper and print edition, but I hope encourage you to track down a copy.
