magCulture Meets Flaneur

The next magCulture Meets evening takes place on 29 March and features the Flaneur team.

Each issue of Flaneur examines just one street and the stories from it. The team spends two months on location gathering information and forming an understanding of the place before returning to their Berlin base to piece all the fragments together. Following the editing, assembling and design process, the team make a final trip back to the street to celebrate the completed issue.

We’re delighted to have the whole team joining us for this latest edition of magCulture Meets, with co-editor-in-chief Fabian Saul and co-art director Michelle Phillips set to talk us through the magazine’s unconventional approach, and what they consider to be their boldest (and is certainly their biggest) issue to date.

Issue seven focusses on São Paulo’s Treze de Maio. The street’s name references 13th May 1888, the date slavery was abolished in Brazil and the pages of the magazine embrace the street’s complexities, working once again with a mix of multidisciplinary artists, academics and locals to unpack them layer by layer.

As ever, the evening will see an illustrated talk followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of the new issue will be available at the discounted price of £13.60.

Thursday 29 March
Doors opens at 6.30pm and the talk will kick off at 7pm
