Founded in, or ‘making faces at art’, since 1949, the almost-monthly ArtReview focuses on expanding contemporary art’s audience and reach. Within its pages, art is observed, featured and reviewed.
Each year Art Review publishes its Power 100 list of the great and powerful in the art world. Included in the list, you’ll find Ibrahmin Mahama at number one, alongside artists Amy Sherald, Kerry James Marshall, Wolfgang Tillmans and Theaster Gates, to name a few.
To go with the list, the magazine always commissions a piece of art for the front cover. This year they invited William Powhida to create a cover—his ‘bucolic’ painting shows ‘that while the actors may have changed, the stage remains very much the same’.
