‘A summoning of ancient terrors’

Named for the poisonous plant and mythical ingredient for witch’s flying ointment, Hellebore is a spooky little zine dedicated to British folk horror and the occult. The pen-and-ink botanical illustrations combined with a haunted pastoral design are reminiscent of the Wicker Man meets Victorian nature guides, while its compact size makes it a pocket grimoire for any aspiring mystical enthusiast.

The ‘Green’ issue takes us into the depths of wild vegetation, exploring the colour’s associations with renewal and folklore’s mythical figures rooted in nature. Inside, Nick Freeman follows artists of the 60s and 70s into the woods to trace how it’s magic shaped their music; Francis Young introduces us to tree deities and spirits; plus: features on plant intelligence, Jack-in-the-Green, flower folklore, and plenty more. Just in time for spring!
