‘The International Review of Graphic Design’
This issue of the graphic design magazine that always looks as good as, and sometimes better than, the work it covers, features Rick Poynor on Stereolab’s goregous record and CD sleeves, Laura Carlin’s picturebook illustrations, and TypeTogether’s Veronika Burian.
Of most interest to magCulture readers, though, will be a major interview with Harri Peccinotti (that’s a close-up of a book cover design of his on the front cover.) Now 90, but still working from Paris, Peccinotti was one of an adhoc group of 1960s art directors that reinvented editorial design; in has case, it was his bold art direction and photography for Nova magazine that made his name. Serge Ricco’s piece is a must-read for anybody interested in the history of magazines.
