‘An independent print journal about the importance of place’
Created by London-based friends Skye O’Neill and Mendy Waits, Fieldfare came into existence as a direct response to the way that digital media (namely Instagram) doesn’t allow the same experience as engaging with content in print. In their words: ‘We wanted substance. We wanted print.’
In contrast to other travel/place-based magazines, neatly-designed Fieldfare explicitly explores ‘the qualities that make a place special or unique’. This fifth edition is themed ‘Flourishing’. Inside, you’ll find a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the worlds of Petersham Nurseries—whose Michelin award-winning former head chef, Skye Gyngell, sadly passed away this November—and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The issue also features a photo essay capturing a road trip through Death Valley, Rachael Beglin’s intimate account of her time living in the small Panamanian community of Boca de Lurá, as well as a curated city guide to the best places to eat, drink and stay in Istanbul.
