‘Reclaiming Autistic culture’

A few years in the making, this insightful Autistic-led magazine was born out of founder Sophie Buck's frustration with the limited (and often problematic) representation of Autistic people across media and pop culture. As such, Autisticulture ‘puts the power back in the hands of Autistic people, in all our diversity, complexity, and depth.’

Much of this colourful debut issue, themed Nostalgia, revolves around ‘headcanoning’—a practice common within the Autistic community allowing individuals to identify with relatable traits from fictional characters to express their own experiences and attempt to broaden Autistic representation.

Inside, headcanons from The Simpsons, Bones, Doctor Who, Gossip Girl and more touch on themes of acceptance, burnout, food and relationships. Plus, artwork, individual safe styles, and a helpful glossary explaining terms found throughout the features.
