‘Last to breaking news’

The original slow journalism magazine, looking back at the news with the (sweet, sweet) benefit of hindsight. A staple on the magCulture shelves.

Covering October, November and December 2025, this latest issue of Delayed Gratification— themed ‘Ditching the doomscroll’—aims to shed light on the life-affirming aspects of human nature obscured by the barrage of inflammatory content propelled by attention-seeking algorithms.

Readers can expect a tribute to the late photographer Martin Parr—whose perspective on the mundane was imbued with a sense humour and an eye for eccentricity—a circus troupe in Kyiv for whom the show must go on, and one journalists five year mission to take down The Prince Group, an organised crime conglomerate in Cambodia.

On the Journal
At Work With editor Rob Orchard, from 2014: ‘The idea of the magazine—and slow journalism in general—is to produce something of substance, something permanent that’s worth treasuring and revisiting, a real antidote to throwaway news. ’
