Over 34 years, Frieze has developed from outsider indie to the leading magazine for contemporary art and culture, and during that time has spawned art fairs in London, New York and Los Angeles. It provides international art coverage, criticism and analysis, and promises (if not always delivers) jargon-free language.
Their landmark 250th issue for April 2025 is dedicated to artist-made film, taking cues from museums, galleries and art spaces for ‘radical new approaches to filmmaking.’ With columns spotlighting five emerging filmmakers, followed by the features: Ed Atkins interviewed by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Lou Stoppard profiles Diego Marcon, Juliet Jacques teaches a class on archive filmmaking, and Laura McLean-Ferris reflects on Agnès Varda's Cléo from 5 to 7.
